EF Academy: Email System

Newsletters, automated responses, & welcome journey

EF Academy’s emails needed a fresh start. I directed the UX/UI design and creative vision for a new modular system that made our emails both beautiful and functional—flexible enough for global teams to use independently, but cohesive enough to stay unmistakably on brand.

Rethinking the system

The original EF Academy email system was functional but uninspired—mostly text-based templates with a fixed header, limited layout options, and little opportunity to showcase the brand visually. Our redesign introduced a modern, modular system with flexible content blocks, branded color palettes, photography, and iconography. The new design brought hierarchy, breathing room, and consistency to every message—creating emails that feel polished, on-brand, and engaging across audiences.

Design system & components

To ensure consistency and scalability, we built a flexible design system that defined every visual element—from button styles and type hierarchy to spacing, color, and iconography. Each component was designed for clarity, accessibility, and ease of use within Marketing Cloud, making it simple for collaborators to create polished, on-brand emails without reinventing the wheel.

Automated emails

The new design system extended beyond newsletters and marketing emails to include automated messages like brochure requests and event confirmations. Built using the same modular components, these templates maintain visual consistency across touchpoints while adapting to each message’s purpose.
